Barrie Colts News Release

Barrie, ON - Horsepower Sports and Entertainment has announced today that Marty Williamson has resigned as the Head Coach of the Barrie Colts. Williamson steps down after six successful seasons with the Colts, leading them to the best record in the Ontario Hockey League last season and a number one ranking among the CHL for major junior teams in Canada.

"I have tremendous respect for Marty as a person and as a hockey coach," stated Colts President Howie Campbell. "The organization thoroughly enjoyed having him as the Head Coach in Barrie, and we wish him nothing but good fortune in his future endeavours."

"At the end of the day he has to do what is best for his family and his career, and explore the other opportunities that are out there. In this situation, the business side of the hockey played a larger role for both sides and we couldn't reach an agreement. The Barrie Colts organization and our search for a new Head Coach will begin immediately," Campbell went on to add.

The Colts never missed the playoffs under the reign of Williamson, who finishes with a regular-season record of 239-139-16-14.
