For the second straight night the Calgary Vipers fell behind early however unlike last night were not able to complete a comeback in losing 15-4 to the Yuma Scorpions at Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma, Arizona. Calgary trailed 6-1 before cutting the lead to 6-4 in the seventh inning only to have Yuma score seven runs in the bottom of the frame to salt the game away. The top four batters in the Scorpions line-up went a combined 11-19 with nine runs batted in and eight scored. One lone bright spot for the Vipers was Matt Edgecombe who knocked in all four runs. In the game Calgary used 17 of their 22 roster players. With the loss the Vipers 2010 Golden Baseball League record drops to 1-1.

Anastacio Martinez (0-1) took the loss for Calgary giving up five runs in three and two-third innings while Daryl Arreola (1-0) earned the win throwing six innings and allowing only one run.

For the second straight night the Scorpions scored three runs in the first inning for a 3-0 lead as Johny Celis and Lee Cruz singled followed by a Timothy Rodriguez home run.

Yuma added to their lead in the third frame as Javier Herrera singled, moved to second base on a groundout, and scored on a Cruz base hit for a 4-0 advantage.

The scoring continued in the fourth inning as Carlos Dominguez singled, advanced to second on a groundout, Herrera was intentionally walked to finish Calgary starter Anastacio Martinez's game, and Celis doubled off reliever Brant Stickel for a run batted in and a 5-0 lead.

Yuma got that run right back in the bottom of the inning for a 6-1 advantage as Ruben Sanchez singled and scored on a Tony Perez RBI base knock.

The Veteran, Alberta native Stickel made his professional debut and threw two and a third innings giving up a run and also recording his first career strikeout.

The damage continued in the bottom of the eighth as Prieto singled, Sanchez doubled, Bubba Garcia knocked in a run with a hit, and Sanchez scored on a double-play for a 15-4 score. Calgary utility man O'Krane made his professional pitching debut in retiring the only batter he faced on a pop fly.
