Sea Dogs Announce Complete List of Team Award Winners

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operation Mike Kelly has announced the complete list of winners for the club's 2009-10 team awards. Several trophies were handed out at the end of the regular season, with the final four award winners having been revealed today.

A full list of Saint John's season-ending team award winners can be found below:

BELL ALIANT REGULAR SEASON M.V.P. - Mike Hoffman

Hoffman, 20, was also named the QMJHL's most valuable player on March 31 after scoring a franchise-record 46 goals for the regular season champion Sea Dogs. The Ottawa Senators prospect also dished out 39 assists on the year to lead Saint John in scoring with 85 points.

BELL ALIANT FIBREOP PLAYOFF M.V.P. - Michael Kirkpatrick & Simon Després (tie)

Kirkpatrick led all QMJHL players in scoring (16G-15A-31P) during the 2010 President's Cup Playoffs while Després finished second in the league in points by a blue-liner (2G-17A-19P) and tied for third in defensive plus/minus (+14).

INVESTORS GROUP TOP DEFENSEMAN - Yann Sauvé

In 2009-10, Sauvé registered career bests in goals (7), assists (29), and points (36) while improving his plus/minus rating by an incredible 46 points over the previous season (from -4 to +42).

GRANT THORNTON ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Stanislav Galiev

A member of the league's all-rookie team, import winger Stanislav Galiev enjoyed a standout freshman major junior campaign. The Russian-born playmaker finished the regular season with 67GP-15G-45A-60P prior to registering 21GP-8G-11A-19P during the Sea Dogs' run to the QMJHL Finals, giving the 18-year-old offensive dynamo the rookie playoff scoring title.

The following team awards were handed out at the Sea Dogs' Fifth Annual Awards Banquet back on March 15 at the Delta Brunswick Hotel:

Alpine Three Stars, Children's Wish Foundation Fan Choice, & Coca-Cola Top Scorer - Mike Hoffman

Scotiabank Community Service Award - Zack Phillips

Irving Oil Team Player- Kevin Gagné

Tim Hortons Most Improved Player - Tomas Jurco

Saint John Airport Academic Player of the Year - Michael Kirkpatrick
