
Huge Second Half Pushes Tulsa Past Energy 117-106

Des Moines, IA, April 18, 2010 - The Tulsa 66ers scored 77 points in the 2nd half to force a deciding game three in their D-League semifinal series with the Iowa Energy. The 66ers, who trailed 53-40 at halftime, outscored the Energy 43-27 in the 3rd quarter behind hot shooting from behind the 3-point arc.
After trailing 23-18 early in the 2nd quarter, Iowa went on a 14-0 run capped by a Jeff Trepagnier steal and layup. A Denham Brown jump shot with less than one second left in the half gave Iowa its 13 point lead heading into the halftime break.
A Cecil Brown 3-pointer with 5:46 left in the 3rd quarter cut Iowa's lead to 63-61. Energy reserve Mark Tyndale responded with a jump shot to extend the lead back to four. After a flagrant foul was called on Tulsa's Deron Washingon, Tyndale knocked down two free throws to make the lead six. Iowa inbounded the ball and found Tyndale, who nailed a 3-pointers and was fouled by Washington. The Energy forward made the free throw, giving him eight points in a 0:29 span, and the home team a 71-61 lead. Tulsa battled back by scoring on nine of their final twelve possessions to take an 83-80 lead into the final quarter. By the end of the quarter, Tulsa had made six 3-pointers and scored 43 points in the quarter.
Tulsa's hot offense continued as they scored on their first three possessions of the 4th quarter to take an 89-81 lead. Iowa cut the lead to four on a Denham Brown basket, but couldn't get any closer as Tulsa coasted to the game 2 win.
Curtis Stinson led Iowa with 30 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists while Tyndale finished with 22 points.
Tulsa, which shot 14 of 25 from 3-point land on the night, was led by Wink Adams' 24 points while Washington added 20.
Game three of the series will be played Tuesday night in Des Moines at 7pm.
