Wheat Kings Look To Rebound

April 9, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Brandon Wheat Kings

Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings will be hoping to get back on track Friday night as they play host to the visiting Saskatoon Blades in game four of their Western Hockey League Eastern Conference Semi-Final.

After losing back to back games on home ice last weekend, the Blades got themselves back in the best of seven series Wednesday night with a 5-4 victory, handing the Wheat Kings their first loss of the 2010 WHL playoffs and snapping a 14 game home ice winning streak in the process.

"Every single guy in our dressing right now knows we got to be better," said Wheat Kings forward Scott Glennie. "Wednesday night you didn't see what we were doing in Saskatoon and I think come tonight we're going to be a team fired up and ready to go."

While the Wheat Kings led by two goals in the second period, thanks to a solid first half to game three on Wednesday, they didn't come close to playing a solid 60-minute game - something that Brandon coach and general manager Kelly MccCrimmon knows will need to change on Friday night.

"I just didn't think we played as well as what we expected ourselves to play," says McCrimmon. "We expect more of ourselves in that situation then what we had. We didn't have the jump that we needed."

The Wheat Kings will again be without veteran center Jay Fehr in game four. The 20-year old Morden product will be serving the third and final game of his suspension for picking up a double minor for checking from behind in last Friday's series opener in Saskatoon.

Tickets to games four and five this weekend at Westman Place are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or by going online at ticketmaster.ca. As of Thursday afternoon, there were plenty of good seats remaining for both Friday and Saturday night games.
