SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League held its annual Golden Puck Awards Gala on Wednesday night in Montreal, with the league's top players, coaches, and on-ice executives being recognized for their accomplishments during the 2009-10 season. Several members of the Saint John Sea Dogs were honoured throughout the evening.

Superstar sniper Mike Hoffman was the big winner on the night, taking home both the Michel-Brière Trophy as the league's Most Valuable Player and the Frank-J.-Selke Trophy as Sportsman of the Year. Hoffman, 20, set a Sea Dogs team record by scoring 46 goals this year, 15 of which were game-winners (also a franchise best). In 56 games played, the Ottawa Senators prospect spent only 38 minutes in the penalty box while registering an impressive rating of +38.

Hoffman was also named a First Team All-Star on Wednesday, with his line-mates Nick Petersen (Second Team All-Star) and Stanislav Galiev (All-Rookie Team) being recognized for their outstanding seasons as well. Galiev recorded 67GP-15G-45A-60P in his first year in the Canadian Hockey League, while Petersen tallied a career-high 39 goals to go along with 40 assists for 79 points in 59 games played during his overage campaign.

Saint John Head Coach Gerard Gallant, meanwhile, has been awarded the Ron Lapointe Trophy as QMJHL Coach of the Year. In his first season behind the bench in the Port City, Gallant led the Sea Dogs to a franchise-best record of 53-12-1-2, a mark which earned Saint John their first-ever Jean Rougeau Trophy as the league's regular season champions.
