Schwartz Powers Storm In Win, Back In Fourth Place

LINCOLN, Neb. - Jaden Schwartz scored two power-play goals to lead the Tri-City Storm (27-25-6, 60 pts) to victory over the Lincoln Stars (16-34-8, 40 pts) on Saturday night, 4-3. The Storm moved back into fourth place in the West Division with the victory and a Sioux City loss in Omaha.

After a scoreless first period, the Stars scored the first two goals of the game in the second period, as Jarrod Mermis and Dominik Shine scored for Lincoln to give them a 2-0 lead 9:13 into the second period.

However, the Storm would score four goals straight beginning at the 9:37 mark in the second period, as Matt Johnson scored his ninth goal of the season assisted by Tucker Brockett.

The Storm tied the game on the power play, as Schwartz scored his 32nd goal of the season with 4:13 left in the second period. Brett Mohler and Maxwell Tardy were credited with the assists on Schwartz's Storm record-breaking 15th goal on the power play.

Cody Murphy put the Storm in front with 1:04 left in the second period, as Brockett and Johnson picked up the assists on Murphy's 10th goal of the season.

Schwartz would score the game-winning goal on the power play at the 10:49 mark into the third period. Tyler Amburgey and Radoslav Illo picked the assists on Schwartz's second goal of the night and 33rd of the season.

Sam Alfieri's goal drew Lincoln to within one goal with 4:40 left in regulation, but the Storm pulled out a victory and snapped a five-game losing streak.

Steven Bolton (8-6-9) made 24 saves on 27 shots in the win for the Storm. Jared Coreau (7-20-4) made 21 saves on 25 shots in the loss for Lincoln.

Tri-City on the power play was 2-for-4, while Lincoln was 0-for-7 with the man-advantage.

The Storm won the regular-season series against the Stars, 6-1. Tri-City beat Lincoln all three times at The Ice Box.

Tri-City is back home for the final two games of the regular season, as the Storm battle the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday and the Sioux Falls Stampede on Saturday at the Viaero Event Center.

Notes: It was Schwartz's 24th multi-point game of the season, but didn't register an assist for the 12th consecutive game... The Storm finished their road record at 13-15-2 this season... If the Storm win the final two games of the regular season, they are in the Clark Cup Playoffs
