KEARNEY, Neb. - Despite one of the best games played this season by the Tri-City Storm (26-23-6, 58 pts), they could only muster two goals on 46 shots, as the Storm loss to the Fargo Force (36-14-5, 77 pts) on Saturday night, 5-2. Fargo has beaten the Storm all twelve times in two seasons, as Tri-City is 0-10-2 against the Force all-time.

Fargo jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first period, as Oleg Yevenko, Garrett Allen, and Nate Schmidt all scored in the first 12:07 into the game. Schmidt's goal was short-handed and stood up as the game-winning goal.

The Storm responded after Schmidt's goal 18-seconds later, as Kenny Brooks banged in the loose puck to the left side of the Fargo net to score his seventh goal of the season on the power play. Anthony DeCenzo and Luke McManus picked up the assists on the Storm's lone goal in the first period.

The Force added one more goal at the 15:45 mark in the opening period, as Corey Leivermann scored to give Fargo a 4-1 lead in the first period. The Storm outshot Fargo 15-7 in the period, but couldn't beat the Force's goalie Ryan Massa more than once.

Tri-City continued to dominate in the shot department in the second period, outshooting the Force 18-9. However, Fargo's Johnnie Searfoss added another short-handed goal in the second period at the 10:40 mark to give the Force a 5-1 lead.

The Storm's Matt Johnson scored his eighth goal of the season 6:05 into the third period, as Tyler Pistone and Cody Murphy picked the assists on the final goal scored in the game.

The Storm's "Magic Number" to clinch a playoff spot is stuck at eight standing points heading into Tuesday's game at Sioux City, which could change to four points with a regulation win over the Musketeers.

Notes: Jaden Schwartz was held pointless for the 12th time this season for the Storm...Schwartz lead in the USHL scoring race has been cut down to two points over Omaha's Matt White... The Storm will have a chance to win the season series against the Musketeers on Tuesday, as both teams have won twice in the season series
