St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (March 18, 2010) - There were no distractions or fatigue as the St. Paul Saints put together their 2010 promotional schedule. When the final pieces of the puzzle were arranged it was a smooth landing and 48 innovative ideas will highlight the 2010 Saints season.

On Saturday, May 29, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the great movie "Airplane" and the pilot's gaffe that took place on October 21, 2009 over the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport, Midway Stadium will become Flyover Country for one night. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee fans will make it directly to their seats by taking the most direct route. Should Saints ushers become distracted there is a backup plan. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Saints compass, however, all directions on the compass point one way: Northwest. During the evening one lucky fan will win a trip to Eau Claire, WI, but once there must turn around and come directly back to the Twin Cities. Fans are asked to leave their laptops at home, so their focus can remain on the playing field.

"For years this community has responded to our more unique, timely, and even edgy promotions," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer. "We feel it's at the core of 'Be Your Own Fan' to pay attention to that response and do our best to continue to deliver."

Cougar sightings occur all across the world with the largest range of habitation, often stretching from the Yukon in Canada to the Southern Andes in South America. The mammal is often described as slender and agile and can often be heard purring. Recently, cougar sightings have occurred all over the Minnesota landscape (and not just at the Redstone in Minnetonka) from Elk River to Chanhassen to Minneapolis.

On Saturday, May 15 the Saints will show that Minneapolis/St. Paul combines to serve as "The Real Cougar Town." Fans will get a chance to admire a real, live cougar in its natural environment, but be sure to keep your distance as they can be dangerous. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Cougar Bobble giveaway.

Other off-the-wall promotions sure to be a hit with fans are: "It's a Dirty Game, 100 years after Thomas Crapper," (June 15), "We are 'The Paul,'" (July 21) a salute to the club's removing "Saint" from their name for the NFC Championship Game and the "World's Largest Water Balloon Fight" (August 9).

The wildly-popular fireworks shows will take place following games on Memorial Weekend (May 30), Independence Day (July 4) and Fan Appreciation Night (August 25).

If you're looking to bring the kids out during the day or perhaps skip work, there are some options: Wednesday, June 16 (1:05 p.m.), Tuesday, July 20, (1:05 p.m.) and Wednesday, August 11 (12:05 p.m.), all three opportunities for Minnesotans to have a little fun in the sun.

Saints single game tickets go on sale, Saturday March 20 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tickets continue to remain one of the more affordable entertainment options in the Twin Cities. The three primary seating levels are general admission, which are $5 for adults, outfield reserved tickets for $8, and infield reserved seats for $12. Children 14 and under and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off tickets in each of these categories.

Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Saints Box Office, calling 651-644-6659 or visiting saintsbaseball.com.
