Brockton Rox News Release
Brockton, Mass. - The Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League announced on Friday that outfielder *Keith Brachold*, righthanded pitcher *Wayne Lundgren* and righthanded pitcher *Keith Noe* have been re-signed for the 2010 season. Meanwhile, catcher *Jon Gossard* was traded to the Sussex Skyhawks of the Can-Am League in exchange for a player to be named later.
In his second stint with the Rox, Brachold had a stellar 2009, starting at first base, left field and right field and appearing in 91 of the team's 93 games played. On the season, the Norfolk, Mass., native hit.284 with 15 home runs and 16 doubles. His 65 RBI were a team high, while his 67 runs scored were fourth-best in the league.
Previously, Brachold spent the 2008 season with the Amarillo Dillas of the United League, where he led the league with nine triples to go along with a.319 average, 11 home runs and 75 RBI. In 2007, he played for the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier League, hitting.261 with a dozen home runs. His first professional season came in 2006 with the Rox, where he appeared in 75 games and put together a.200 average and five round-trippers.
Lundgren has been the Rox' most consistent starting pitcher over the last two seasons, winning 20 games, striking out 163 hitters and throwing 265 innings in 2008 and 2009 combined. The Australian finished second in the league with a 2.75 ERA and first with five complete games and two shutouts in 2009. He also spent part of the 2006 season with the Rox, splitting time as a starter and a reliever and going 2-6 with a 3.80 ERA.
Prior to Brockton, Lundgren spent parts of six seasons in affiliated baseball. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Boston Red Sox in 2000, he reached as high as Class-A in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization.
Noe completed his second professional season in 2009, both of them with the Rox. Last year, the native of San Diego was a solid member of the Brockton bullpen, going 5-2 with a 3.83 ERA in 31 appearances, all in relief. He limited opponents to a.210 average, including a meager.181 mark at Campanelli Stadium.
Gossard served as the Rox' backup catcher in 2009 behind *Keith Grossman*, appearing in 19 games and hitting.216 in his first professional season after finishing his collegiate career at Rutgers. There, the native of Harrington Park, N.J., was named to the Big East All-Star Team as a junior.
The Rox begin their ninth season at Campanelli Stadium on Friday, May 28, kicking off the Can-Am League slate with a three-game home series against the Worcester Tornadoes.
