
Mets Sign RHP Kiko Calero To Minor League Deal

The New York Mets today announced that they have signed RHP Kiko Calero to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training.
Calero, 35, pitched for the Florida Marlins last year and went 2-2 with a 1.95ERA in 67 games out of the bullpen. In 60.0 innings, he allowed 36 hits, 13 runs, earned, with 30 walks and 69 strikeouts. Calero led the Marlins bullpen in ERA and finished fourth in appearances among relievers with 30.0 innings pitched.
The 6-1, 205-pounder made his major league debut in 2003 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Calero spent part of the 2004 season with St. Louis and played for the Oakland A's from 2005-2008.
For his career, he is 14-12 with seven saves and a 3.24 ERA in 313 games, one start. In 302.2 innings, he has permitted 236 hits, 110 runs, 109 earned, with 126 walks and 324 strikeouts.
