3 In 3 Launches With Military Appreciation Night:

To the swirl of the kilts and the sounds of the 8CH Pipers and Drum band, the Wildcats will begin a tough three game weekend tomorrow night at 7 pm against the Rimouski Oceanic. It's the team's fifth annual Military Appreciation night. A Military equipment display will greet fans outside the Coliseum, while inside the Forces' mascot Juno will join Wild Willie in welcoming fans to the game. Information and recruitment tables will be on display and throughout the game members of the military will be featured on the score clock screens.

Captain Guy Dufour and his family will join the Color Guard for the official puck drop. Captain Dufour, has twice been deployed to Afghanistan assisting in reconstruction work. The anthem singer will be Second Lieutenant Dan Boissonneault from 4th Air Defence Regiment, Moncton.

The game sponsor, Coast Tire will be providing prizes including a shoot out from centre ice for a set of tires, along with four oil changes certificates. Fans will also be eligible for eight oil change certificates through the game programs and 50/50 draw.

Fans are asked to wear red to show their appreciation for the Armed Forces. Tickets for the game are available at the Coliseum Box Office or by calling 506-857-4100.

Another group of special guests at tomorrow nights game will be the Oromocto Pee Wee Eagles. They enjoyed an hour long game practice with the Cats on January 31st as the national prize winners of an essay contest sponsored by Old Dutch Foods Ltd. They picked the Moncton Wildcats as the favorite CHL team. The second part of their prize was to attend a Wildcats game.

The Cats travel to Bathurst on Saturday to renew the battle of New Brunswick, game time at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre is 7 o'clock. Live coverage of the game will be available on News 91.9 and the Telus webcast.

Sunday afternoon at 4, the Shawinigan Cataractes are in town. The game sponsor is Synergy Xerox, look for great game prizes. The Wildcats will salute the Girl Guides on their 100th Anniversary. It will be a big day for the Lewisville Bruins; they'll be playing an exhibition inter-squad game during the intermission. Bring the family to the Sunday game, buy a Family Pack, which gives you 4 game tickets, 4 Cavendish fries and 4 Cokes, all for $47.59 plus tax.

Cats Ready For Skills In Peddy:

The Wildcats are preparing for their annual Skills Competition, set for the areana in Petitcodiac on Monday night starting at 6:15 with a skate with the entire team. Tours of the team bus will begin at the same time. Then the business gets serious, the Cats will be divided into two teams of ten skaters and one goalie. Each player must take part in at least one of the events. Points will be awarded for each event and the total number of points accumulated will determine the winner.

Here are the events:

1: Fastest Skater with three skaters from each team. Starting from a standing position, the skaters have to make a complete turn around the rink. The player with the fastest time gets a goal for his squad.

2: Puck Control Relay, again three players take part. After picking up the puck at the far end of the rink, the players must maneuver thru pylons keeping control of the puck. The first team to get its three players to complete the relay gets a goal.

3: Rapid fire, there will be 4 shooters and 1 goalie for each team. The goalies will face two alternate shooters at a time from the top of the circle with a total of 10 shots per pair in 15 seconds. The team with the most saves gets one point.

4: Hardest Shot, four players per team. One pick will be placed 30 feet from the goal line with the player skating from the nearest blue line to fire his shot. Players must hit the net to qualify and the player with the highest score earns a point for his team.

5: Accuracy Shooting, three players per team in this competition. Players shoot at four foam targets attached to the goal posts. The shooter has 20 seconds to shoot eight pucks to hit each target. One goal will be awarded the winner.

6: Breakaway Relay, each player and the goal take part. The players will shot, one at a time, at the goal tender and the team to put all the pucks in the net is the winner.

Each team will have an Honorary Captain, well known local sports figures, Stew Lutes and Gordon Crossman, will be behind the benches.

Book Signing Tomorrow Night:

"Destination LHJMQ" is a new French language book by author Michel-Andre Roy. Released last fall, each team in the Q and its home rink is described by the author along with feature stories. The story of Wildcats Equipment Manger Serge LeBlanc is one of the features. Mr. Roy will be signing copies of his most interesting book at tomorrow night's game and will be a guest on the News 91.9 radio broadcast with Les Stoodley.

* February 24th is the deadline for Season Ticket holders to pick up their Playoff Packages. The general public can pick up their playoff tickets any time. Don't miss a minute of post season action. * The make up game with the Montreal Junior is set for March 8th game time is 7pm.

* Check at the Booster Club booth and make reservations to get on the bus for the Rivalry Cup Round 7 in Saint John on March 5th. Having Wildcats fans at Harbour Station can help in the point total. The final Rivalry Cup game will be at the Coliseum on March 14th starting at 8 instead of 4 because of the national television coverage on Rogers Sportsnet.

* Legends Restaurant is closed for tomorrow night but beverage service will be available downstairs in the Famous Players Lounge opens at 6pm.

A guest of the Wildcats last season, Riverview native Travis Joyner, is a member of the USA speed skating team and skated last night at the Vancouver Olympics in the 1000 metre competition.
