
Opening Weekend Plans Take Shape

(Central Islip, N.Y., Feb. 16, 2010) - With just nine weeks before Opening Day, the Long Island Ducks today announced a lineup of Opening Weekend sponsors and promotions that resemble a virtual "Who's Who" of the Island's top companies with promotions on tap sure to stoke the flames of all Ducks fans.
On Opening Night, April 22, Long Island (and America's) #1 family-owned and operated appliance and electronics company, P.C. Richard & Son (www.pcrichard.com ) will present "Ray Navarrete Bobblehead Night". Bobbles of the 2009 Atlantic League MVP will be handed out to the first 2,000 fans, courtesy of the electronics & appliance giant and long-time Ducks sponsor.
The following night, Friday, April 23, fans will be treated to the "2010 Earth Fair" presented by Esurance (www.esurance.com ). The first 1,500 fans through the turnstiles will receive reusable shopping bags, courtesy of the insurance giant, while throughout the game learning about how to incorporate greener habits into everyday living.
Fans at the ballpark on Saturday, April 23 will be treated to a postgame fireworks extravaganza, presented by New York Community Bank (www.mynycb.com ), a family of community banks currently consisting of two bank subsidiaries, seven divisional banks, and 277 branches, serving customers in five states (over 100 in New York City & Long Island). All 2010 Ducks fireworks shows, including the Atlantic League All-Star Game, will be performed by the World Famous Grucci Family of Long Island (www.grucci.com ), another long-time partner of the club.
Sunday afternoon's 1:35 p.m. game (April 24) will be the first "Sunday Family Fun Day" of 2010, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union (www.bethpage.org ). Prior to the game, fans will be allowed down on the field to interact with players and receive autographs and, following the game, will once again be invited down to the field to run the bases. On their way into the park, the first 1,500 fans will receive something for the players to sign -- autograph books, courtesy of Newsday (www.newsday.com ), Long Island's hometown newspaper.
Opening weekend represents just four of the 71 big events on the Ducks 2010 calendar.
