CHARLOTTE, NC (February 9, 2010) ? The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Lorne Misita of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is the Sher-Wood SPHL Player of the Week for February 1-7.

Misita, who signed with Pensacola after spending five seasons in Columbus, scored four goals and set up three others as the Ice Flyers went 2-1-0. The four-point weekend moved Pensacola into fourth place, just two points behind Knoxville and only five points in back of first-place Huntsville.

On Friday, the Niagara Falls, Ontario native scored the first of his two shorthanded goals on the weekend and added an assist in a 6-2 loss to Knoxville. Misita then scored his sixth shorthanded goal of the year, and second in two games, helping the Ice Flyers get past Huntsville 3-1 on Saturday. Misita saved his best for Sunday by scoring the game-tying goal against Knoxville with just 1:28 left in regulation and then netting the game-winner in overtime for a 4-3 win over the Ice Bears. Misita also assisted on Pensacola's other two goals, giving him a four-point night.

The SPHL's all-time third-leading scorer entering the season, Misita's six shorthanded goals currently lead the league, while his 24 goals rank third overall. With two more shorthanded goals, Misita will break the current SPHL record of seven, set in 2007-2008 by Twin City's Daryl Moore.
