Ottawa 67's News Release

With the first period setting an exciting pace for today's game, our Ottawa 67's fought hard against the Guelph Storm. After scoring a goal within the first two minutes of play, it was a close game until the last minutes. Too bad our Ottawa 67's just couldn't get past the Storm's goalie, and the game ended with a score of 4-3 for the Storm. Our boys still kept fans cheering until the last seconds of play though, which makes the game a success in our books.

Today's game was sponsored by Giant Tiger, who have been raising funds for the Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton (TROH). TROH promotes horseback riding as therapy for physically and emotionally challenged individuals. Giant Tiger presented a cheque for 192,000 dollars to TROH before today's ceremonial puck drop. Thanks so much to Giant Tiger!

In addition to their generous donation, Giant Tiger also gave away 50 dollars gift certificates to 15 lucky Ottawa 67's fans, and took part in the first intermission with the GT Rolling for Dollars Challenge. Three players from the South End Outlaws Pee-Wee hockey team and their families took part, with the players getting taped up and rolling around on the ice to collect as many GT-dollars as they could. Unfortunately we can't announce any winners, as the participants were taken off ice to tally their earnings. Good luck to all three families!

Proceeds from some of today's ticket sales, as well as a few activities on the concourse were donated to René Faucher and his family. René was involved in a hockey-related accident earlier this season, which has left him paralyzed. To make a donation to the Faucher-Douglas Trust Fund, go to www.faucherdouglastrustfund.com, visit any Scotiabank, or go to PayPal and search Faucher-Douglas. René, his wife, and their three children appreciate the support of our Ottawa 67's fans.

We'll be seeing you next Friday at the Urbandale Centre against the conference-leading Barrie Colts. We'll see you there, we'll be the ones writing from the stands.

If you were to take a guess at how many Ottawa 67's photos, videos and other entertaining nuggets about the team are available online, what kind of number would you come up with? Thousands? Millions? Well, whatever the number, there's no way you'd have time to visit all those sites. That's why we've created the Ottawa 67's official fan hub. It's the centre of the online universe for all that is Ottawa 67's. The videos.the tweets.the pictures.they're conveniently organized for you at ottawa67shub.com. And YOUR online postings will show-up there as well. It's for the fans and by the fans.

Alan has been to a LOT of Ottawa 67's games, and is a full-blown super fan according to his grandma (proven also by his awesome sign). His favorite part about being in our stands are the music, how much the player introductions and videos pump him up, and watching our boys warm up. His favorite player is Cody Lindsay.

You're such an awesome super fan Alan!

Jack is our season ticket holder of the game today. He's a huge Ottawa 67's fan (for 20 years!), however not so much a fan of the camera, so one of our lovely In the Stands writers, Carly, charmed him into it. He's a big OHL fan and finds it extremely entertaining as the boys are still trying to prove themselves. He loves being close to the action because it just seems more real.

Thanks for your support Jack (and Carly)!

Our group today are all the supporters of René Faucher, who was paralyzed in a hockey-related accident (more information above). Thanks for supporting our Ottawa 67's and a worthy cause today guys!

Travis Gibbons played hard at the Urbandale centre this afternoon, and earned himself the third star according to the Team1200. In comparison to his teammates, Gibbons skips over the heavy pre-game meal of pasta or meat and sticks with healthy yogurt and granola. His favorite class is science, and he loves chilling out and watching movies. Keep it up Travis!

LINDSAY LIGHTING IT UP FOR 67'S2/6/2010Cody Lindsay continues to carry a hot stick for the Ottawa 67's, scoring twice in a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Belleville Bulls.
