World Series Trophy Coming To Trenton

(Trenton, NJ) On Monday, the Trenton Thunder announced that the 2009 New York Yankee World Series Trophy will be on display at Waterfront Park as Trenton hosts the Erie SeaWolves (Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers) on Opening Night, Thursday April 8th at 7:05 p.m.

Tickets for the 2010 season are on sale now by phone, 609-394-3300, online at trentonthunder.com, and in person at Waterfront Park.

The World Series Trophy, officially known as the Commissioner's Trophy, will be on display on the stadium concourse throughout the evening. Fans are encouraged to bring their cameras.

This is the third straight season that Thunder fans will get a glimpse of some freshly won championship hardware on Opening Night. The Thunder won the 2007 and 2008 Eastern League titles.

Opening Night will be the first "Thirsty Thursday" of the season and the first of the recently announced daily promotions that will occur throughout the season. The Thunder recently unveiled a schedule of recurring promotions that include: Kids Eat Free Mondays, $1 Dog Tuesdays, Wacky Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Family Fun Fridays, Fireworks Spectacular Saturdays and Kids Rule Sundays.

The Thunder are the Double A Affiliate of the New York Yankees and had a total of 23 former players suit up for their Major League affiliate at some point during the Yankees' Championship season. Thirteen of those alumni were on the World Series roster.
