Wichita Thunder News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA- The Wichita Thunder fell 2-1 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the Century Tel Center on Thursday night.

The Mudbugs took a 1-0 lead 4:30 into the first on a goal from Tyrel Lucas. Lucas forced a turnover at the Thunder blue line before playing a screen from the right hash mark, bouncing a shot under the five-hole of Ian Keserich. Brandon Kaleniecki collected a wide shot off the endboards from Paul Kelly and snuck a close-range backhander behind the left pad of Bugs' goaltender John DeCaro at 12:04 to tie the game.

After a scoreless second period Bossier went back in front on the second goal of the night from Tyrel Lucas. Seconds after Ian Keserich made a brilliant save on a backdoor slapshot that allowed Wichita to clear the zone on a power play, the Mudbugs drove back inside and scored on a cross-slot pass from Dave Rutherford that Lucas tipped in. The Thunder successfully killed off over 1:40 of two-man advantage as well as close to four straight minutes of Bossier power play but could not tie the game once they returned to even strength.

Keserich, who started his sixth consecutive game, saved 28 of 30 shots. John DeCaro stopped 30 of 31 for the win. Wichita was 0 for 2 on the power play, while the Mudbugs were given seven total chances, converting on Lucas's second goal.

Wichita heads to Tulsa to take on the Oilers at the BOK Center on Friday night. The Thunder and Oilers then open the INTRUST Bank Arena on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Well over 10,000 seats have already been sold. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
