Erie Otters News Release

Erie Otters forward Andrew Yogan became the 14th player in team history to appear in the CHL/NHL Home Hardware Top Prospects game, played Wednesday night at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario.

Yogan, who played for Team (Don) Cherry in the contest, helped the team to a 4-2 victory over Team (Bobby) Orr, and had a fight in the third period.

"It was fun playing with great players," Yogan said of playing in the game. "The action was really fast paced and it was a good learning experience."

In Tuesday's Skills Competition, Yogan lost in the Breakaway Showdown finals to Kitchener Rangers forward Jeff Skinner, but scored five goals to lead all players in the three-on-three game.

Ranked No. 65 in NHL Central Scouting's Midterm Rankings, Yogan has 19 goals and 20 assists in 43 games with the Otters this season.

Former Erie Otters that have played in the game include current NHL players Ryan O'Reilly (2009), Nick Palmieri (2007), Ryan O'Marra (2005), Carlo Colaiacovo (2001), Brad Boyes (2000), Tim Connolly (1999) and Mike Rupp (1998).

A native of Florida, Yogan began playing ice hockey at age seven when his friend convinced him to try out the sport. It led to a progression where Yogan became one of the top young players in the Sunshine State, and eventually a highly-regarded prospect. He hopes that he can be an example to young children that hope to pick up the game as well as he did.

"It's all about working hard," Yogan said. "But most importantly, (it's) about having fun playing the game you love to play."

The Otters return to action Friday night in London, as the Otters battle the Knights at 7:30 p.m. Fans can listen to the broadcast on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or online at ottershockey.com.
