CORPUS CHRISTI -- Oh, say, can you sing... or play?
The Corpus Christi Hooks are conducting open auditions for 2010 National Anthem singers and instrumentalists on Saturday, January 23, at Whataburger Field.
Director of Ballpark Entertainment Steve Richards and other Hooks staff members will review performers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"There are many talented singers and instrumentalists in the Coastal Bend and this gives us an opportunity to hear from those interested in performing the anthem before a Hooks game," Richards said. "We had some absolutely rousing performances last season and look forward to even more in 2010.
"This exercise puts the contestants right in the venue for their audition and gives us the ability to evaluate them more effectively."
If you want to perform the National Anthem before a 2010 Hooks home game, report to the Whataburger Field main gates between 10 and 3 on 1/23.
