
Huntsville Picks Up Three Points

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc went 1-1-1 over a three game weekend on the road and picked up three points to remain three points ahead of the Mississippi Surge in the SPHL standings with four games hand.
Thursday, December 31 - Huntsville 5, Louisiana 6
LAFAYETTE, LA - The Huntsville Havoc held a 5-2 lead over the Louisiana Ice Gators with just over 17 minutes left in the game but could not hold the league as the Ice Gators rallied for 6-5 win.
Dennis Sicard and Jason Hill both scored two goals for the Havoc while Justin Rohr added one.
Josh Bonar scored two goals for the Ice Gators while Mike Ruberto, Trevor Karasiewicz, Nick Pernula and Alex Hagar all scored one each.
Dan McWhinney made 14 saves in the loss while Jimmy Spratt made 26 in the win.
Friday, January 1 - Huntsville 3, Louisiana 2
LAFAYETTE, LA - Chris Myers scored with 6:03 left in the game helping the Huntsville Havoc rebound from a loss last night and score a 3-2 win over the Louisiana Ice Gators 3-2.
Dennis Sicard added his seventh goal in the last five games for the Havoc while Mike MacDonald also added a goal for the Havoc.
Ben Manny and Daryl Moore both scored for the Ice Gators.
Mark Sibbald made 16 saves in the win as the Havoc outshot the Ice Gators 39-18. Jimmy Spratt made 37 in the loss.
There were only five penalties called for 10 minutes as the Ice Gators converted on 1-of-3 powerplays and the Havoc was 0-of-2.
Saturday, January 2 -Huntsville 4, Mississippi 5 - OT
BILOXI, MS - For the fifth time this season the Huntsville Havoc have suffered an overtime loss, and for the third time it was to the Mississippi Surge with a 5-4 setback Saturday night.
The held a 4-3 lead after Chris Myers scored with 3:52 left in the game. However, three straight whistles put the Havoc on the penalty kill and the Surge timed the game with :20 left when Tim Velemirovich scored a 6-on-3 goal.
Matthew Larke scored the overtime winner 1:37 into the overtime period.
Justin Rohr scored two goals for the Havoc while Jeff White added one on the powerplay. Bill McCreary and Mike Carter added two assists each for Huntsville.
Mark Sibbald made 34 saves in the overtime loss.

The first 1,000 fans who make a donation to the NICU at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children receive a FREE retro Havoc lunchbox courtesy of Huntsville Hospital Foundation and WHNT. Donations include clothing, caps, booties, blankets and disposable cameras. Havoc players will warm up with special pinks sticks that will then be part of a silent auction throughout the game. Havoc players will also wear special jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately after the game. This season's jersey features pink and blue footprints of babies who were treated in the NICU at Huntsville Hospital. All auction proceeds benefit the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund and the NICU at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.
