Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SPRINGDALE, AR- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals announced that with the 2010 season will come a new flagship affiliate for Naturals baseball - ESPN 92.1 The Ticket (KQSM-FM). The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon live on the air at Cumulus' studios in Fayetteville by Eric Edelstein, General Manager of the Naturals.
"It's a mission of the Naturals to bring professional baseball to everyone in Northwest Arkansas," indicated Edelstein. "We are thrilled to have the Nats affiliated with ESPN 92.1 not only for their excellent shows and content, but for a stronger frequency that can effectively reach everyone in our market in their cars and at home."
Beginning with Opening Night on April 8th against the San Antonio Missions, Texas League Baseball will make the shift to the FM dial in Northwest Arkansas. Broadcaster Steven Davis will call the play-by-play for all 140 games as he begins his third season as the voice of the Naturals.
"Adding the Northwest Arkansas Naturals is the next exciting step as we continue to build the best sports talk station in the region," indicated C.J. Jones, Vice President and Market Manager for Cumulus Broadcasting of Northwest Arkansas. "We have been in negotiations for months and today is the start of a great long term professional baseball relationship with the Naturals."
Owned and operated by Cumulus Media, ESPN 92.1 The Ticket debuted last summer and is a leading sports station in Northwest Arkansas, covering all University of Arkansas athletics, live broadcasts of Major League Baseball, select NFL games from the Westwood One Broadcast Network, and, beginning in 2010, Naturals baseball. ESPN 92.1 The Ticket pledges to "cover sports the way you want it."
ESPN Radio is also a nationally recognized brand and home to some of the more recognizable national sports shows like "Mike and Mike in the Morning," and "The Colin Cowherd Show." Locally 92.1 FM is home to the "T.J. Carpenter Show" each weekday afternoon from 3 P.M. till 6 P.M.
The 92.1 frequency comes in clear throughout Northwest Arkansas including Bella Vista and Siloam Springs. Broadcasts of all 140 games will also be simulcast online at 921theticket.com and nwanaturals.com. A complete slate of games and start times will be posted on the Naturals website in early 2010.
