Pare Named AHL Player Of The Week

December 14, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grand Rapids Griffins right wing Francis Pare has been named the Reebok/American Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 13, the league announced on Monday. He recorded three goals, six points and a plus-eight rating in four games last week.

Pare, 22, went 21 games without a goal to start the season before scoring on his first career penalty shot to spark Wednesday's 4-2 win over San Antonio, adding an assist and grabbing first star honors. Pare earned the same accolades on Friday after netting another goal in a 4-3 shootout win over Lake Erie, then was named third star on Sunday after tying a career high with three points (1-2-3) and finishing plus-four in a 7-2 triumph at Toronto.

The Lemoyne, Quebec, native now shows 13 points (3-10-13) in 25 games with Grand Rapids this season, and his plus-12 rating ties for the Griffins' lead.

Pare joins current Detroit Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard as the only Griffins players to receive two AHL player of the week awards, following his selection nearly one year ago (Dec. 21, 2008). In recognition of his achievement, he will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Griffins home game.
