
Los Angeles Falls Short In Rally Against Idaho

EL SEGUNDO, CA-The Idaho Stampede outlasted the D-Fenders in a back and forth battle tonight at the STAPLES Center. D-Fenders' James Jackson led his team with 21 points, while Sundiata Gaines of the Stampede posted 31 points to defeat the D-Fenders 105-95.
Idaho led the first quarter, outscoring Los Angeles 25-20. Although the D-Fenders outscored the Stampede 25-22 in the second quarter, Idaho was able to hold the lead with 47-45 to finish the half.
Gaines, of the Stampede carried his team with 10 points, while teammate Bryson McKenzie added eight rebounds to end the half. Jackson came off the bench for the D-Fenders to lead his team with 10 points, while Diamon Simpson added nine of his own, at the half.
Los Angeles and Idaho rallied with eight lead changes in the third quarter, but the Stampede closed the quarter leading 74-70. The Stampede outscored the D-Fenders 31-25 in the fourth quarter. Gaines led the team with 31 points and six assists, while Mildon Ambres chipped in 17 points. D-Fenders' Simpson grabbed the only double-double of the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Simpson also had five assists and three steals.
"I am going to give them the credit, they executed their stuff better. They were the better team tonight. We have to be more disciplined. They play a style that every kid wants to play, but we don't play that way. I would like to see us come back Sunday with a better effort and hopefully sustain it," said D-Fenders assistant coach, Rasheed Hazzard.
The Los Angeles D-Fenders play their first game of the season at the Toyota Sports Center this Sunday, December 13 at 5:00pm against the Idaho Stampede. Tickets will be sold at the door for $7. If you can't make the game, be sure to tune in to www.nba.com/futurecast.
