Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB.: The Edmonton Oil Kings and Edmonton Toyota Dealers will be doing their best to make the Holiday Season a little happier for some local children. The Third Annual Toyota Teddy Bear Toss will be held during the Oil Kings home game against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, December 18th.
"This game is our most popular one of the Holiday Season," says Oil Kings Vice President Nick Wilson. "The fans really look forward to the game and that first Oil Kings goal."
Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game to donate to 630 CHED's Santas Anonymous and Edmonton's Food Bank. When the Oil Kings score their first goal, fans will litter the ice with thousands of fun and furry friends. Edmonton Toyota Dealers will donate over 1,100 teddy bears for the cause; these bears will be sold at the game to fans that do not bring their own stuffed animals. Proceeds from the sale of the extra Toyota Teddy Bears will be donated to Santas Anonymous.
"We will be giving out the Teddy Bears in our Holiday Hampers," says Marjorie Bencz, the Executive Director of Edmonton's Food Bank. "We are a Central Warehouse for 160 agencies around our city, so the donated Teddy Bears will also be given out at a number of Community Dinners."
The Toyota Teddy Bear Toss is part of a unique junior hockey tradition that is growing in popularity each and every year. Not only will the Oil Kings be hosting the Battle of Alberta on the ice against Red Deer, but the team will also be trying to break a Calgary Hitmen record. The Hitmen fans hold the record with over 22,000 teddy bears tossed onto the ice last year.
Please help the Edmonton Toyota Dealers and the Oil Kings bring some smiles to kids in need this Holiday Season. Join the Oil Kings at their home game against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, December 18th and take part in the Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss.
CHRISTMAS BONUS: The Edmonton Oil Kings will be joined by Santa Claus at Rexall Place for their games on December 16th against the Regina Pats, and December 18th against Red Deer. Mr. Claus will be on the main concourse and kids can get their photo taken with him free of charge. Tickets for all Oil Kings home games start at $15 and are available online at www.oilkings.ca or you can call 414-GOAL. Fans can also check out the Rexall Holiday Packs. Fans can get two tickets to any Oil Kings home game and a seat at the Edmonton Oilers Skills Competition for just $39.98.
