DES MOINES, IA - The Buccaneers scored four goals in the third period to lift them over Team USA on Saturday night. Connor Brickley scored twice for the Buccaneers, while T.J. Tynan assisted on four of the seven Buccaneer goals. The final score of the game was 7-4.Both teams went scoreless in the first period, with Des Moines having 8 shots on goal and Team USA having 5. The excitement in the arena was kicked up a notch in the second period when Danny Heath scored a powerplay goal at 2:00. His goal, assisted by T.J. Tynan and Austin Coldwell, put the Buccaneers up 1-0. Team USA answered with two powerplay goals, the first from Travis Boyd at 3:37 and the second from Rocco Grimaldi at 4:22. The Buccaneers didn't sit back though and Connor Brickley tied the game with a goal assisted by H.T. Lenz and T.J. Tynan just 19 seconds after the Team USA goal. Yasin Cisse took advantage of a powerplay and put the Bucs in the lead with a goal at 6:38. The goal, assisted by Chris Stafne and Danny Heath, put the Buccaneers up 3-2. The final goal of the period was scored at 17:35 by Team USA's Travis Boyd. The teams finished the period tied 3-3.
In the third period, Reid Boucher scored for Team USA at 5:01 putting them ahead of the Buccaneers 5-4. The Bucs answered with four goals to seal the deal. Connor Brickley scored his second goal of the evening at 5:27, followed by a powerplay goal from Brandon Carlson at 9:22. H.T. Lenz would score at 15:58 putting the Buccaneers ahead 6-4. With that goal, the Buccaneer fans in attendance would get to enjoy a free half dozen doughnuts from Krispy Kreme for the second weekend in a row. The final goal, an emptynet shot from Chris Stafne, closed the game out at 7-4.
Des Moines would go 3 for 7 on the powerplay. Goalie Eric Mihalik would stop 28 of 32 shots on goal. Connor Brickley, T.J. Tynan and H.T. Lenz were named stars of the game.
The Buccaneers return to action next weekend with back to back games on Friday and Saturday night. Friday they'll face the Indiana Ice on Affordable Friday - fans can purchase four tickets for just $36. On Saturday they'll take on the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders on Miller Lite Buc Beer Night presented by LAZER 103.3.
