Sports Radio 1350 Named As New Broadcast Home Of York Revolution

November 21, 2009 - Atlantic League (AtL) York Revolution

(YORK, Pa.): The York Revolution Baseball Club and Sports Radio WOYK 1350AM in York has reached a three-year partnership to air the complete schedule of York Revolution games, making Sports Radio WOYK the "Official Broadcast Home of York Revolution Baseball." The agreement was announced on Saturday morning by Revolution General Manager Matt O'Brien and WOYK General Manager Vince Grande.

"We're excited to be broadcasting on the area's most powerful AM signal," said O'Brien. "Being a sports station, WOYK 1350 broadcasts York College Basketball, the NFL Playoffs, the Super Bowl and now the York Revolution. It's a great fit."

Darrell Henry will remain as the Play-by-Play broadcaster and Voice of the Revolution. As part of the agreement, Sports Radio 1350 will broadcast all York Revolution home and road games during the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons. Henry will continue to broadcast his pre-game show prior to most games, as well as a ten-minute post-game show following each game. Internet broadcasts will also be made available for fans worldwide. It's a bit of a homecoming for Darrell as WOYK gave Henry his first-ever professional broadcasting job.

"They trusted me enough to broadcast all of York College's athletics before I started here," said the Voice of the Revolution. "I've always been grateful for that and I'm excited to come back with Revs play-by-play on 1350."

Not only was WOYK York's first radio station in 1932, but they now operate on a power of 5,000 watts, which is the most power licensed to any radio station outside of Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Programming will also include a year-round weekly sports show featuring team reports, player call-ins and live remote broadcasts from Revolution events in the area, as well as an off-season baseball program.

"As a community-based sports radio station, we couldn't be happier to be partnered with our home-town team," said Grande. "Not only do we broadcast all local high school sports, but now for every pitch of every game, WOYK will be there to give the community the best broadcast of exciting Revolution baseball action."
