
Trio Of West Division Rivals Awaits Lancers

The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) will face off against three of their biggest rivals this week as the Lancers look to extend their league-best eight game winning streak. Omaha (11-1, 22 Pts.) remains atop both the West Division and USHL standings. The Lancers busy week begins tomorrow when they head west to Kearney, Nebraska to tackle the Tri-City Storm. Tri-City (7-3-1, 15 Pts.) currently sits third in the West Division and had won five consecutive games overall before a pair of losses this past weekend in Sioux Falls and Des Moines. After an off-day Thursday, the Lancers return to action Friday evening when they welcome the Sioux City Musketeers to the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Omaha is already 2-0 this season against Sioux City (3-7-1, 7 Pts.) and is coming off a dramatic 4-3 shootout win over the Musketeers last Saturday. The Lancers weekend concludes Saturday with a trip to Sioux Falls to battle the USHL's 2nd overall team, the Stampede. Sioux Falls (8-1-2, 18 Pts.) is currently in the midst of a nine-game home stand and is already 6-1-2 overall on its home ice.

NEWS & NOTES FOR THE WEEKEND
Lancers' forward Matt White was named Reebok Offensive Player of the Week last week after tallying 3 goals and 6 assists in a trio of Lancer victories.
White currently leads all USHLers in scoring with 19 points (6 goals, 13 assists) and is in the midst of the league's longest scoring streak having registered points in each of his last 8 games overall.
Omaha is currently enjoying the USHL's longest winning streak having collected wins in 8 straight games. The Lancers have outscored their opposition 40-18 during that stretch.
Lancers' forward Erik Haula registered a league-high four goals in last Friday's 7-4 victory over Waterloo. With that performance Haula became the first Lancer since Trevor Smith in 2004 to record four goals in a single game. The Pori, Finland native currently ranks 2nd among all USHL skaters with 8 goals.
Third year Lancers' forward Dakota Eveland is currently tied for the USHL lead with 3 game-winning goals. Three of Eveland's last four goals overall have been game-winners.
Lancers' goaltender Jeff Teglia is currently riding a 6-game winning streak after posting his first career shutout in Sunday's 6-0 win over Indiana. Teglia leads all USHL netminders with 8 wins while ranking 2nd in save percentage (.928) and 3rd in goals-against average (1.88).
The Lancers remain the USHL's top defensive team allowing just 2.08 goals-against per game while Omaha has climbed to the top of charts in goals-for per contest averaging 4.42 goals a night.
Omaha Lancers Head Coach Bliss Littler collected his 500th career coaching victory Friday evening with Omaha's 7-4 win over Waterloo.
