URBANDALE, IA - The Tri-City Storm (7-3-1, 15 pts) had a 2-0 lead entering the third period, but the Des Moines Buccaneers (5-7-0, 10 pts) scored five goals in the final period to win 5-3 on Saturday night in Buccaneer Arena. For the first time this season, the Storm has lost back-to-back games.
After a scoreless first period, the Storm opened the scoring in the second period at the 16:06 mark, as Jaden Schwartz would score on a Josh Berge rebound shot. The power play goal was Schwartz's seventh of the season.
With 20-seconds left in the second period, Radoslav Illo would score after Schwartz set him up in the right circle and Illo buried it past Buccaneers goalie Charles Williams.
The third period was not friendly to the Storm, as the Buccaneers scored three unanswered goals to take a lead. Des Moines' Austin Coldwell, TJ Tynan, and HT Lenz all scored before Adam Hout scored for the Storm on the power play to tie the game up at 3-3.
However, Tynan scored the game-winning goal on the power play 1-minute and 36-seconds after Hout's first goal of the season at the 15:07 mark in the third period. Former Storm, Danny Heath scored an empty-net goal to cap the 5-3 victory for the Buccaneers.
Carsen Chubak (6-3-1) made 22 saves on 26 shots in the loss for the Storm. Williams (2-4-0) made 37 saves on 40 shots earning the win for Des Moines.
The Storm on the power play was 2-6, while the Buccaneers were 3-8 with the man-advantage.
The Storm will play Wednesday night (Veterans Day) against the Omaha Lancers on Military Appreciation Night. Also, it is another Coca-Cola Dollar Deal night, where fans can purchase a soda and a hot for only $1.
