
Buccaneers Come From Behind; Defeat Tri-City Storm 5-3

DES MOINES, IA - With a four point game from T.J. Tynan; the Des Moines Buccaneers came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Tri City Storm 5-3 at Buccaneer Arena in front of a crowd of 2842. The Buccaneers would score their five goals in the third period; with three of the goals being on the powerplay.
After a scoreless first period, the Storms offense came alive late in the second with goals in the last three minutes of play. The Buccaneers began their battle back from the 2-0 deficit just under 5 minutes into the third period. Austin Coldwell, off of passes from T.J. Tynan and Danny Heath, put the first powerplay goal on the board for the Bucs at 4:25. Less than a minute late Tynan, off of an assist from goalie Charles Williams, tied the game at 2-2 with a powerplay goal.
Ryan Walters set H.T. Lenz up for a goal at 8:38; putting the Bucs in their first lead of the game. Tri-City tied the game at 3-3 at 13:31, but the Bucs were not finished with their offensive strike. At 15:07, Tynan put another powerplay goal between the pipes, for the second time, off a pass from Lenz putting the Bucs up 4-1. The final goal of the came with just 30 seconds remaining in the period. The goal came off of a pass from Tynan to Heath, who slipped the puck in Tri-City's empty net. The crowd got to their feet as the Buccaneers defended their way to a 5-3 win in the last thirty seconds.
The Buccaneers were 3 for 7 on the powerplay and had 27 shots on goal. Goalie Charles Williams recorded his first USHL assist in his second win for the Buccaneers. He stopped 37 of 40 shots on goal. Buccaneers T.J. Tynan, H.T. Lenz and Danny Heath were named stars of the game.
The Buccaneers return to action next Saturday night against the Sioux City Musketeers on Teddy Bear Toss Night! Fans can bring a teddy bear to Buccaneer Arena and after the Bucs score their first goal of the game, throw their bears onto the ice! All donated bears will be given to local children's charities.
