The 5th Annual Kitchener Rangers Remembrance Day Jersey will be unveiled on November 8th, 2009 when the Rangers play host to the Guelph Storm at 2:00pm at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. The Rangers will be wearing a commemorative jersey for their game this Sunday against the Storm and again on Wednesday, November 11 when they visit Mississauga. The game jerseys will be available for fans to obtain through the annual Remembrance Day Jersey Auction during the game on November 8th, 2009.
The 2009 commemorative jersey is designed to pay tribute to the Highland Light Infantry, a local regiment that, among other battles, participated in the D-Day landings.
The primarily red jersey will feature the Highland Light Infantry badge on the front chest. This badge features the cross of St. Andrew, the monogram HLI for the Highland Light Infantry; the Canadian beaver; King George's crown that represents the regiment's loyalty to the King; the Canadian Maple leaf; the horn which represents the ancient British regiments who fought in India in the 1800's; and a banner that holds their motto "Defence Not Defiance". The upper left chest contains the poppy. The left shoulder patch bears both the Union Jack and Ontario Flags.
Fans may bid on these special jerseys in a silent auction to be held in the North concourse during the game this Sunday. Bidding will start at 1:00pm and close 15 min. after the end of the game. Winners will be notified by telephone. In the past four years the Rangers commemorative jersey auctions have raised more than $100,000. All proceeds from the auction will benefit veterans through the 78th Fraser Highlanders Fort Conestoga Garrison and the Kitchener-Waterloo Poppy Fund.
We also ask that fans attending the game wear red in support of our troops and to pay tribute to our veterans.
Reserved seating tickets are still available 519-578-1570 or 1-800-265-8977, www.centre-square.com or in person at the Centre In the Square Box Office or The Aud Box Office.
