Erie Otters News Release
Despite outshooting the Petes throughout the game, the Erie Otters were unable to seize control in Peterborough as they lost, 7-1, at the Peterborough Memorial Centre Thursday night.
The Petes went off to a strong start with three goals in the first 10:49 of the game. Pat Daley, Ryan Spooner and Brett Theberge all collaborated to put Peterborough ahead 3-0 into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Petes scored another three goals to push their lead to six after two periods of play. Second goals by Spooner and Theberge were enough to pull Ramis Sadikov out of the net at the 8:57 mark in favor of Shane Owen, who gave up the third goal of the period to Justin Larson.
The Otters' lone goal came at the 2:18 mark of the third, as Mike Cazzola ripped a shot from the slot over the left shoulder of Jason Missiaen for his second goal of the season. The tally was matched by Liam Heelis a few minutes later to produce the final result of 7-1.
Erie outshot Peterborough in the contest, 40-30. The Otters power play went 0-for-4, the first time that it did not score a power play goal in a game this season.
The Otters continue on the road in Oshawa against the Generals, with the face off at 7:35 p.m. The pre-game show on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan starts at 7:20 p.m. Fans can also listen to the broadcast online at www.ottershockey.com.
