
Pirates Drop Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Chris Minard, Adam Henrich and Taylor Chorney each scored a goal and an assist to lead the Springfield Falcons to a 5-2 win over the Portland Pirates in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,267 at the MassMutual Center.
Liam Reddox and Charles Linglet also scored for the Falcons while Ryan Potulny and Chris Armstrong registered two assists each.
Marc-Andre Gragnani scored both Pirates goals. Paul Byron and Dennis Persson each collected an assist.
Springfield is 1-0 on the season while Portland is 0-1.
Springfield led 2-1 after one and 5-2 after two.
Jhonas Enroth took the loss for the Pirates allowing five goals on 24 shots. Devan Dubnyk posted the win with a 30-save performance.
The Pirates return to action Friday when they travel to Albany to face the River Rats at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.
The Pirates 2009-2010 home opener will take place this Saturday (October 10th) when the Providence Bruins visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 7 p.m. start.
