Boise Hawks News Release

Former Boise Hawks outfielder Tyler Colvin made his Major League debut tonight with the Chicago Cubs, going 1-for-3 with an RBI in the Cubs 10-2 victory over Milwaukee at Miller Park - becoming the 69th former Hawk to play in the Big Leagues.

The former first-round pick in 2006 out of Clemson was promoted from AA Tennessee, where he helped the Smokies to the Southern League Championship Series - hitting .300 with 14 HR and 50 RBI this season.

Colvin made his professional debut in Boise in 2006, where he hit 11 HR and drove in 53 runs, earning Baseball America Short Season All-Star honors. He was an All-Star in the Florida State League in 2007, and was a two-time Southern League Player of the Week this season.

It is the third former Hawk to reach the Big Leagues this year - joining Donnie Veal with the Pirates and Mitch Atkins with the Cubs.
