Suns Advance to Southern League Championship Series

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Suns completed a sweep of the Birmingham Barons Sunday evening to advance to the Southern League Championship Series! The Suns will face the Ryne Sandberg-led Tennessee Smokies, AA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, in a best-of-five series to determine the 2009 Southern League Championship. The Suns will open the series at the Baseball Grounds, giving fans one last chance to see the team in action in 2009.

Wednesday, September 16, is game two of the series at 7:05PM. Fans can bid on game-worn gold jerseys straight from the players' backs through a silent auction during the game, either in person at the Baseball Grounds or by calling (904) 860-3650 between 5PM and the end of the 8th inning.

The Suns and Smokies will then have a travel day on Thursday before resuming the series in Tennessee on Friday, September 18. Tennessee will also host games four and five, if necessary.

Tickets are $7.50 for general admission, $10.50 for reserved seating and $13.50 for Homeplate Box seating. The 2009 season is presented by Everbank, official banking partner of the Jacksonville Suns. The Suns are the Double-A Affiliate of the Florida Marlins and a member of the Southern League of Professional Baseball.
