Jupiter Hammerheads News Release


JUPITER, FL- The Jupiter Hammerheads (24-32) shutout the Palm Beach Cardinals (24-29) by a score of 4-0 tonight at Roger Dean Stadium. Jupiter scored three runs in the seventh inning off of Jason Burrsma to break things open. Spike McDougall tripled to left-center field to knock in Osvaldo Martinez to get things started. Miguel Fermin would follow with an RBI double, and Ben Harrison capped off the inning with an RBI single.

Jhan Marinez (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings in relief to pick up his first win of 2009. Starter Wade Korpi (ND) went four innings and allowed two hits while striking out three.

Palm Beach starter George Brown (2-5) suffered a tough loss. He pitched five 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball. It was broken up on a bunt single by Gregory Burns, who would come around to score on a throwing error Buursma.

The two teams continue their four-game series tomorrow at Roger Dean Stadium. Burke Badenhop will get the start for the Hammerheads and is with the club on a Major League Rehab Assignment. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM.
