
Angels option Willits to Salt Lake, Statia reassigned to Arkansas

SALT LAKE CITY (August 16, 2009) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has optioned outfielder Reggie Willits to Triple-A Salt Lake. To make room for Willits on the roster, the Bees have reassigned infielder Hainley Statia to Double-A Arkansas.
Willits, 27, has appeared in 34 games for the Angels in 2009, hitting .206 with two doubles, six RBI and four stolen bases. In 47 games for the Bees this season, he owns a .261 average with seven doubles, one triple, one homerun, 18 RBI and eight stolen bases. The Chickasha, Okla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the seventh round of the 2003 free agent draft.
Statia, 23, has appeared in four games for the Bees in 2009, scoring two runs. In 88 games with Arkansas this season, he owns a .228 average with 36 runs scored, 15 doubles, 33 RBI and 12 stolen bases. A native of Curacao, Netherlands, Statia was originally selected by the Angels in the ninth round of the 2004 draft.
The Salt Lake Bees continue an eight-game road trip today against the Oklahoma City Redhawks at 3:05 p.m.
