Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Governors' Cup champion Colorado Eagles announced today that veteran forward Ryan Tobler has signed, taking the team to its CHL-mandated limit of four veteran skaters. Tobler enters his seventh season with the team, and is coming off one of the most productive seasons of his career following an injury-shortened 2007-08 campaign.
One of the league's premier power forwards, Tobler set a career high in goals last year with 38, tying Greg Pankewicz for the league lead and surpassing his previous career high of 30. Most of those goals came on the power play where the 6-foot-3-inch, 225-pound winger led the league with 23 tallies -- again significantly surpassing his previous career high of 12. His .183 shooting percentage was the highest on the team for players with more than five games played.
The Calgary, Alberta native ranks third on the franchise's all-time points list (trailing Riley Nelson and Pankewicz) with 356 points (156-200-356) in 308 games. His 66 power-play goals are good for third (Pankewicz has 68, Nelson, 67) and his .144 shooting percentage is topped only by Nelson's .147.
