Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forwards Sam Warning and Michael Parks have been named to the United States Under-18 Select Team that will compete at the 2009 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament from August 11-15 in Piestany, Slovakia.
"This both a great honor and a wonderful opportunity for both of these young men," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "The chance to represent your country is something every player strives for and Sam and Mike have worked very hard to earn that chance."
Warning, 16, was selected by the RoughRiders in the fourteenth round of May's United States Hockey League Entry Draft with the one hundred eighty-first overall pick. The RoughRiders will open their eleventh United States Hockey League season on October 3 in Des Moines against the Buccaneers. The Riders will open on home ice on Saturday, October 17 at 7:00PM against the Chicago Steel.
