JUPITER, FL- The St. Lucie Mets (9-9) shutout the Palm Beach Cardinals (9-10) by a score of 10-0 today at Roger Dean Stadium. Tim Stronach (1-1) carried a no-hitter into the ninth, but Oliver Marmol broke it up with a one out double down the left field line. Stronach had a perfect game through six 2/3 innings, but it was lost after he hit Adron Chambers with a pitch. The right-hander went eight 1/3 innings and reliever Edgar Ramirez recorded the final two outs.

The Mets' offense erupted for 15 hits on the afternoon. They scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back. Chuckie Fick (3-3) only lasted three innings and allowed six runs on seven hits. Francisco Pena (6) homered in his third consecutive game and finished three for five with four RBIs and two runs scored. Carlos Guzman (11) and Stefan Welch (2) also homered and each finished with three hits.

Oliver Marmol accounted for the only Palm Beach hit.

The two teams continue their three-game series tomorrow at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
