Quakes Hang On To Beat Storm 6-5

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- With Lake Elsinore in town for the first of a four game series, the Storm jumped out to an early lead against Ryan Brasier and the Quakes. After Brad Chalk led off the first with a double, he went to second on a ground out and scored on a sacrifice fly from Sawyer Carroll to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.

Lake Elsinore got on the board again in the second as Felix Carrasco led off with a walk went to third on a single by Andy Parrino and scored on a Kevin Winn RBI single to lead 2-0.

The lead didn't last long as the Quakes got a lead off double from Jay Brossman to lead off the bottom of the second. Hector Estrella followed with an RBI single to right to score Brossman. After Estrella stole second, he went to third on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game 2-2.

The Quakes got a lead off single from Clay Fuller to start the bottom of the 3rd and he went to second on a ground out from Jeremy Moore. With two outs, Efren Navarro delivered an RBI singled to left center to grab a 3-2 lead.

Rancho came storming back in the 4th as Hector Estrella reached on a two base error by the right fielder. After a sacrifice, Alberto Rosario singled to left center with two outs to give the Quakes a 4-2 lead. Clay Fuller then walked and Andrew Romine blasted a ball into the right field corner for a two run triple to make the score 6-2.

Ryan Brasier continued the throw well in just his third professional start as he lasted six innings and allowed just two runs, on six hits, while striking out four.

Eddie McKiernan came in for the 7th for the Quakes and struggled, allowing three runs on five hits and brought the Storm within a run at 6-5.

Mike Kenney pitched a scoreless 8th and Ysmael Carmona let the tying run get to second base, but finished with two strikeouts and a ground out to end the Storm threat.

The Quakes will continue their homestand with game two of the four game series with Lake Elsinore Saturday. Left hander Jayson Miller will start for the Quakes against right hander Jeremy Hefner. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
