Largest crowd in team history packs ballpark on Fourth of July

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - A past-capacity crowd of 7,582 were on hand Saturday night at Citibank Park, as the Long Island Ducks took on the Bridgeport Bluefish. The attendance figure set a new single-game record for the Ducks, breaking the previous mark of 7,308, which had been established last night.

The Independence Day crowd witnessed a 7-0 Bluefish win over the Ducks as the Fish used a six-run seventh inning off Ducks' relievers Jason Norderum and Joe Valentine. Ryan Radmanovich's three-run homer was the big blow.

Ducks' starter Jake Dittler (2-4) tossed six innings, yielding three hits and one run. Bridgeport starter Corey Lee (4-5) fired seven innings, allowing three hits and no runs.

The Ducks and Bluefish wrap up their series on Sunday. Game time is 5:05 p.m., and the Citibank Park gates open at 4:05 p.m. Randy Leek makes the start for Long Island against Bridgeport's Gary Knotts .The first 1,500 fans will receive an umbrella, courtesy of News 12. Prior to the game, all fans will be invited down onto the field to participate in a pregame autograph session, and following the game fans will be welcomed back onto the field for Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
