Angels Option Rodriguez to Salt Lake, Recall Kendrick

SALT LAKE CITY (July 4, 2009) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has optioned infielder Sean Rodriguez to Triple-A Salt Lake and recalled infielder Howie Kendrick from Salt Lake.

Rodriguez, 24, has appeared in nine games for the Angels in 2009, hitting .118 with one homerun. In 57 games for the Bees this season, he owns a .273 batting average with seven doubles, two triples and 60 RBI. He also has a league-high tying 21 homeruns for the Bees. The Miami, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the third round of the 2003 draft.

Kendrick, 25, has appeared in 20 games for the Bees in 2009, hitting .346 with six doubles, one triple, two homeruns, 11 RBI and four stolen bases. In 51 games for the Angels this season, he owns a .231 batting average with seven doubles, two triples, four homeruns and 22 RBI. The Jacksonville, Fla. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2002 draft.
