Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI -- The Corpus Christi Hooks have added what is certain to be a popular giveaway item to their 2009 promotional schedule.

On Wednesday, August 26, the first 2,500 fans at Whataburger Field for the Midland RockHounds-Hooks game receive a replica Houston Colt .45s cap, compliments of Flint Hills Resources.

Game time is 7:05 and gates open at 5:30.

From 1962-64, the Colt .45s played National League baseball at Colt Stadium, which was located in what later became the northwest corner of the Astrodome parking lot (near the intersection of South Main & Old Spanish Trail). When the Dome was completed before the 1965 season, team owner Roy Hofheinz renamed his club the Astros.

A temporary facility, Colt Stadium had 33,000 seats and was constructed at a cost of $2 million. It was a big yard... dimensions were 360-427-420-427-360.
