NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (August 30) - The Brahmas will pack an offensive punch for a CHL championship repeat next season as they have announced the return of former Brahmas leading goal scorer Anders Strome for the 2009-10 campaign.

Strome, 28, was a key factor in the Brahmas success in 2007-08 when registered 34 goals and 26 assists in 64 regular season games. His experience charged Texas in the postseason where he put up 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists) in 14 games before bowing out in Game Seven of the Northern Conference Finals.

Last season, the winger played overseas in Denmark with the Odense Bulldogs where he led the team with 25 goals. Strome had 40 points (25 goals, 15 assists) in 36 games. The Winnipeg, MAN native will enter his seventh season playing professional hockey, his fifth in the CHL. Much of his career has been spent with the Lubbock Cotton Kings. In 252 games in the CHL, Strome posted 228 points (126 goals, 101 assists) and 261 penalty minutes.

In 2005-06, Strome, 26, played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) with three teams (Long Beach Ice Dogs, Florida Everblades and South Carolina Stingrays) for one season. In 54 games he recorded 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) and 26 penalty minutes.

Strome participated in the 2004-05 CHL All Star game as a member of the Lubbock Cotton Kings. At season's end, Strome was awarded the "Offensive Player of the Year" by the Cotton Kings organization.

In 2003-04, Strome was a finalist for CHL "Rookie of the Year" as he spent the season with both the Wichita Thunder and Lubbock Cotton Kings.

Prior to his professional career, Strome played for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell for three seasons. As a River Hawk, Strome played in 91 games and scored 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists).

Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong is excited about the return of Anders Strome for next season.

"This is a big re-signing for us as an organization as we look to repeat for another title," Wildfong said. "Anders played a pivotal role for us when he played here in 2007-08, and we look forward to seeing him step up once again in a Brahmas jersey."

Strome becomes the 5th Brahmas signing of the offseason joining: Jason Deitsch, Craig Minard, A.J. Gale and Casey Russell.
