
Smyth, Linder Return to Oilers

The Tulsa Oilers have signed two defenseman who played for the team last season, for the 2009-10 Central Hockey League season. Matt Smyth and R.J. Linder will return to the Oilers next season, after each of them joined the Oilers midway through last year. "Both of these guys give us a steady presence on defense," Oilers coach Bruce Ramsay said. "Matt and R.J. are quality people that really add to a team atmosphere." Smyth came to the Oilers in a trade with Corpus Christi in February. The 6-foot-2, 180 pound Smyth played 18 games with the Oilers registering one goal and six assists for seven points and had 28 penalty minutes. In his 62 total games, he had four goals and 13 assists for 17 points and 141 penalty minutes. Linder began last season with Augusta in the ECHL. In his 11 games with the Oilers, the 6-foot-2 195 pounder had one goal and three assists for four points and eight penalty minutes.
