Second Place Nuts Set to Host Four Game Series Against First Place Visalia

The Visalia Rawhide visit John Thurman Field June 4, 5, 6 and 7 to set up a competitive match-up for the Modesto Nuts, as the Rawhide currently sit in first place in the California League's north division. The Nuts trail the Rawhide by three games and currently sit in second place. The Nuts lead the season series between the two teams 6-5 behind solid pitching efforts that have held the Rawhide to a team batting average of just .222 in their previous 11 meetings.

Nuts pitcher Bruce Billings, who currently sits at fourth in the Cal League with 58 strikeouts on the season, has recorded a win this season against the Rawhide, as has Nuts closer Craig Baker who leads the league with 16 saves. Nuts hurler Joey Williamson sits at 2-0 against Visalia in 2009 and is currently tied for the most wins in the league with 6.

Modesto centerfielder Charlie Blackmon will look to improve his team-leading .308 batting average against the Rawhide this weekend, and has recorded a home run and five RBI in the previous 11 meetings against Visalia. Modesto third baseman Radames Nazario is currently second in the league with 18 doubles, seven of which he legged out against the Rawhide, and has posted a .317 average in the previous meetings between the two teams, as well as five RBI.
