WINNIPEG, MB - The Blue Bombers have extended the contracts of import linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz and import receiver Adarius Bowman, and signed import defensive lineman Chase Ortiz and import defensive back Jasper Johnson to contracts today.

As per team policy, details of the agreements are not disclosed.

Shabazz (6'0, 205, New Mexico State '03, DOB: Feb.5, 1981 in Frankfurt, Germany) was acquired in a trade with Edmonton in February.

In 2008, his second season with the Eskimos, he started all 18 games for the second consecutive year. He was second on the team in defensive tackles with 63, and added six special team's tackles. Shabazz recorded four tackles for loss, three quarterback sacks, and one interception.

"He will not only provide leadership, but is a player that can run and hit and play three different positions. He will be primarily our weak-side linebacker, but we know he provides us with great versatility," said head coach Mike Kelly.

Bowman (6-4, 219, Oklahoma State '08, DOB: July 10, 1985 in Chattanooga, TN) was acquired on April 2, 2009 in a trade with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

His best game was the season opener against Edmonton when he had a season-high six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown.
