
P-Bruins Defeat Sharks 4-2, Lead Series 2 to 0

Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 4-2 Wednesday evening at the DCU Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Martin St. Pierre, Johnny Boychuk, Kirk MacDonald and Wacey Rabbit. The P-Bruins lead the best of seven series 2 game to 0. The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, May 8 at 7:05 p.m. for Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Finals.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 19:03 mark of the opening period. Brad Marchand sent the puck into the Sharks zone for Vladimir Sobotka. He held the puck in the right face off circle and found St. Pierre in the slot. St. Pierre blasted the puck into the net for his third goal of the post-season. Providence went into the first intermission leading 1-0.
The Sharks tied the game at one at the 3:42 mark. Riley Armstrong netted his first goal of the playoffs, while Tom Cavanagh and Andrew Desjardins recorded the assists. Providence retook the lead at the 7:36 mark, while on a 5-on-3 power play. Mikko Lehtonen held the puck in the corner and worked it to St. Pierre behind the net. He found Boychuk cutting into the right face off circle and he tallied his third goal of the post-season. The P-Bruins led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins took a 3-1 advantage at the 5:15 mark of the third period. Jeremy Reich had the puck in the neutral zone and passed it up ahead to Rabbit. He sent it to MacDonald, who was cutting down the right wing. MacDonald shot the puck into the net from the right face off circle for his second goal of the playoffs. Worcester pulled back within a goal at the 10:31 mark. Dan DaSilva netted his third goal of the post-season, while Frazer McLaren and Desjardins had the assists. The P-Bruins added an empty net goal at the 19:20 mark. Rabbit scored his first goal of the playoffs and Reich had the lone assist as Providence went on to the 4-2 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 22 of 24 shots for the P-Bruins, while Thomas Greiss made 29 saves for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 1-for-3 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
