Mets Sign LHP Ken Takahashi to Minor League Deal

The New York Mets today announced that they have signed LHP Ken Takahashi to a minor league contract.
Takahashi, 39, appeared in one exhibition game this spring with the Toronto Blue Jays, working 1.2 innings, allowing four hits, two runs, earned, with one walk and no strikeouts. He signed a minor league contract with Toronto on February 6th and was returned to minor league camp on March 15th and released by the Blue Jays this morning.
Takahashi went 8-5 with a 3.50 ERA in 21 games, 20 starts for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 2008. In 115.2 innings, he allowed 124 hits, 45 earned runs, with 42 walks and 71 strikeouts.
He has spent his entire 14-year career with the Carp, compiling a 66-87 with five saves and a 4.23 ERA in 433 games (160 starts).
