Sun To Hold Auditions For Solar Power Dance Team

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (March 10, 2009) - The Connecticut Sun will hold open auditions for a diverse group of male and female dancers who will make up the 2009 Solar Power Dance Team, scheduling preliminary rounds for Saturday, March 28th at the Mohegan Sun Convention Center and Sunday, March 29th at the Carolyn Dutra Dance Studio in Warwick, R.I.

The preliminary round at the Mohegan Sun Convention Center will begin with registration at 8 a.m., followed by the start of auditions at 8:30 a.m. Registration for the preliminary round in Rhode Island will begin at 12:30 p.m., with auditions set to start at 1 p.m. All dancers must pay a $20 non-refundable registration fee to participate.

The final round of auditions will begin with an interview on Friday, April 17th and will conclude on Sunday, April 19th with a final public audition in the Mohegan Sun Cabaret.

The Solar Power Dance Team auditions are open to male and female dancers 18 or older by June 6, 2009. Candidates must have previous dance training and experience in jazz and hip-hop, and must be able to commit to scheduled practices, Sun home games, playoffs, photo shoots and community events. Candidates must provide a 5x7 headshot (which won't be returned) and a current dance resume.

Participants must wear dance sneakers or tennis shoes with non-marking soles, and have performance-ready hair and makeup. To pre-register, please send a headshot, resume, contact information and a non-refundable check for $20 - payable to the Connecticut Sun - no later than March 25th to the following address:
